The center, in Suitland, MD, will help disadvantaged youth on their path to and through college.
On May 15, 2017, KD introduced the BUILD IT AND THEY WILL BALL initiative to his hometown of Seat Pleasant, Maryland, with the renovation of two outdoor basketball courts adjacent to Seat Pleasant Elementary School and Seat Pleasant Activity Center – a facility where Durant spent a lot of time as a youth.
The Kevin Durant Charity Foundation's signature program works to build or fully renovate basketball courts in underserved communities across the United States and internationally in addition to ensuring the courts are utilized for youth athletic programming. In October 2015, Durant unveiled the first North American court renovation in Oklahoma City for North Highland Elementary School. The court at North Highland Elementary School serves 460+ students and is open to the North Highland community
